FITNESS LEADERSHIP COURSES
Have dreams of working in the fitness industry and becoming a Certified Personal Trainer? Our courses are approved by the BCRPA (British Columbia Recreation and Parks Association), and you will be provided opportunities to become registered with BCRPA (additional fees apply). Our courses are carefully designed to maximize your learning experiences, and to provide you with the necessary knowledge to get started in your career as a fitness professional. These courses are also of interest to people wanting to increase their own knowledge who are not necessarily looking to become Certified Fitness Leaders.
FITNESS THEORY
Looking to expand your knowledge in health and fitness? This course is the first step to becoming a Certified Fitness Leader. Course content includes: components of fitness, movement mechanics, principles of conditioning, basic nutrition, leadership, anatomy, and physiology. The hip bone’s connected to the thigh bone!

NEW! FITNESS THEORY EXAM CHALLENGE WORKSHOP
Looking to challenge the BCRPA Fitness Theory Exam? This refresher course will review principles of anatomy, physiology, nutrition, and exercise science to help aid in your successful completion of the exam. This prep course is recommended for individuals with previous knowledge and understanding of anatomy and physiology through other course work or post secondary education. If you have no formal training in these principles, you should complete the 30-hour Fitness Theory Course for full instruction in these areas and successful completion of the BCRPA exam.

If the scheduled courses do not suit your lifestyle, Melissa is also available for private instruction. Fitness Theory is instructed privately over 16 hours. Learn in the comfort of your own home at your own pace! $475 (additional fees may apply). Semi-private rates are also available.
WEIGHT TRAINING
This course is designed to certify you as a Weight Training Instructor. Feel competent and confident at monitoring and supervising a weight room, as well as designing and instructing safe and effective introductory weight training programs. Through a combination of lecture and hands-on training, you will gain a thorough understanding of training exercises for the upper body, lower body, and core muscle groups, as well as program organization and planning.
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Fitness Theory and registration with BCRPA in Fitness Theory

Private Instruction:
Weight Training is instructed privately over 10 hours. Learn in the comfort of your own home at your own pace! $375 (additional fees may apply). Semi-private rates are also available.
BCRPA Weight Training Instructor Competency Evaluation (ICE): $75-$90
PERSONAL TRAINING
This course is designed to certify you as a Personal Trainer. This course covers more detailed instruction in health screening and fitness assessment, posture, program design, risk management, and business planning to prepare you to work with individuals on a more on-going, personalized basis.
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Fitness Theory and Weight Training, as well as 20 hours of on-floor experience in a supervised weight room setting
